National Association of Wheat Growers – Mission Statement

NAWG is a nonprofit partnership of U.S. wheat growers who, by combining their strengths, voices, and ideas, are working to insure a better future for themselves, their industry and the general public.

NAWG Beginnings

In 1950, a handful of wheat growers from across the country formed the National Association of Wheat Growers to solve common problems and make decisions for the future of America’s wheat producers.

Today, the NAWG works with a team of state wheat grower organizations to benefit the wheat industry at state and national levels.

NAWG Teamwork

At the Grassroots Level, NAWG receives its direction from members of state wheat associations, each of which is represented on NAWG’s board of directors. Board members serve as the crucial link between individual wheat growers, the state organization and the national organization in Washington, D.C.

At the National Level, NAWG serves as the eyes and ears for state wheat organizations, alerting them of possible problems that may affect the wheat industry in a particular state.   From its grassroots network and its office on Capitol Hill, the NAWG is in daily communication with state associations and those in Congress, USDA and other government agencies and organizations which affect your pocketbook.

NAWG Meetings

NAWG and state wheat association’s host annual meetings, giving members opportunities to determine state and national policy, improve their own farming operations and learn from old and new friends. The NAWG also conducts a Fall and Spring Board Meeting every year.

NAWG Foundation

The NAWG Foundation was established in 1978 to create programs and projects that will assure a solid source of information, security and opportunity for the total wheat industry.  The Foundation coordinates many of NAWG’s research, education, leadership and market promotion activities.
